Axial Piston pumps are very powerful, durable, and efficient pumps in the hydraulic industry.

How Axial Piston Pumps Work

It uses multiple cylinders that cluster around a central axis for perfect operation. Interestingly, axial piston pumps are one of the most effective and efficient types of pumps with excellent pressure rate.

Due to its capacity to withstand high pressure as high as 10,000 psi, axial piston pumps provide outstanding solution for hydraulic oil pump applications.

Some of the applications are powering of the hydraulic system of aircrafts, automobile air conditioning, and pressure washers.

However, the design of some axial piston pumps make it easy to get affected by contaminants. It is very important to consult a reliable and reputable axial piston pumps manufacturer for your axial piston pump.

Continue to read as we show you the nitty-gritty of axial piston pumps in the hydraulic system. This will give you a good knowledge of axial piston pump.

Basic components of Axial Piston Pump

The axial piston pump consists of the following components:

A Piston

A chamber

Two valves

The Working Principle Of Axial Piston Pump

The operation of the axial piston pump is by driving down the piston into the chamber, and this compress the media inside the chamber.

When the pressure of the compressed media in the chamber exceeds the pressure of the outlet valve spring, it move through the outlet valve.

The inlet valve opens when the axial piston is drawn back. This closes the outlet valve, which enables it to use the suction to draw another media for compression. The process continues using the same sequence.

Key Features of Axial Piston Pumps

1.The Cylinder Block

Axial piston pumps, mostly, contain odd number cylinders that cluster around a central axis.

The group of cylinder is called cylinder block. The piston in each of the cylinder is attached to what is called swashplate.

2.The Swashplate

The swashplate is also called wobble or cam plate. The swashplate is attached to the rotating shafts.

When the rotating shaft rotates, the angle of the swashplate changes. This move the pistons in and out of the right cylinder.

The piston rotates axially to reciprocate the angle of rotation of the swashplate.

This give a perfect rotation around the axis of the cylinder block.

3.The Piston

The motion of the piston plays important role in the working principle of the axial piston pump.

The piston moves towards the valve plate as it rises. The fluid are trapped between the valve plate and the buried end when the piston moves towards the valve plate during this rotation.

The piston push the fluid as it moves back. This fluid discharges through the discharge port of the valve.

Uses Of Axial Piston Pump

Axial Piston Pumps are used for different systems in so many sectors. However, some of the applications are hydraulic System, pressure washers, compressor of air condition, and powering of machines.

Conclusion

Axial piston pumps are one of the most effective and efficient types of pumps with excellent pressure rate.

There are many applications of axial piston pumps hydraulic industry such as hydraulic system of aircrafts, automobile air conditioning, and pressure washers.

It is very important to consult a reliable and reputable axial piston pumps manufacturer for your axial piston pump.
